Post by: rob w on May 01, 2013, 09:39:57 AM
Do you think this is an authentic John Penton autograph, or counterfeit ?

This one looks different from 2003:

As does this one from 2009:

Watching too much Pawn Stars will tell you that it is in fact a fraud.  It looks like Mr. Penton makes a capital A when he signs his middle initial.  The rest of it is pretty suspect too but that really sticks out.

Guys, I have one of those and the signature on mine does not look like this one. Mine has the capital A in the middle initial, the J at the beginning is different, the P, T and N are all different. The 7 in the date is different also. I'm thinking I remember something about these being presigned at Mid Oh in 09? I'm not sure butmine is different. Hank

Hi, sorry for the delayed response. Though I'm glad things are this busy with work.
Those who said this is not an authentic John Penton autograph are correct. Although it is one of my most memorable autographed pieces.
One of the giveaways is the capital A. You'll find it's identical to the capital A, in Al Borns signture.  ;) [:o)] :) :D
