Title: is it true that KTM now owns Husky
Post by: acemoto on May 02, 2013, 07:44:11 PM
I was told that BMW washed its hands of Husquavarna , after seeing the 1200 left over 2012 and 400 2013 sitting in their factory in Italy. That ontop of that they had a staff of over 35 people and could not even dream of a profit.

does anyone know if this is true
it sounds similar to Harley Davidsons MV Augusta give away
IS THIS TRUE and was it driven by the fact that they have to maintain parts and warrantee services for 10 years?

Sort of. Stefan Pierer, who owns 51% of KTM through his Pierer Industrie AG company, is who officially bought Husqvarna. It is not clear if he actually bought it, or if KTM partner Baja fronted him the money so Husky could be bought through the "back door" without problems from an outside Europe company (Baja is in India) buying them.
