Title: Harold Compton R.I.P.
Post by: slvrbrdfxr on May 05, 2013, 08:17:08 PM
Hi All,
It is with great sadness that I pass along the news that long time Tulsa Trail Rider member and our club referee Harold Compton passed away this morning very unexpectedly. Harold was competing in a Black Jack Enduro at Hardwood, MO today and was found unconsious along the trail by another rider. Its my understanding that several riders came to his assistance providing CPR until the EMTs arrived but even with their valiant efforts were not able to save his life. Harold was an icon in the Tulsa Trail Riders and served as our club referee for as long as I can remember dating back to even before the 1994 ISDE at the Zink Ranch. He was one of those guys who was tough as nails and absolutely loved riding in the worst conditions and rockiest terrain. To him, a Sunday afternoon of riding through sloppiest of mudholes, crossing the deepest creeks and traversing sections of trail that resembled the surface of the moon were his pure heaven !! He will be missed very much !! My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and many, many friends !!Godspeed Harold !!

Wow, so sorry to hear the sad news, Dave.  Reminds me of how Darrell Judy passed, in the middle of a Blackjack Enduro doing what he loved and surrounded by fellow riders.  his family and the club are in my prayers.

My heart goes out to Harold's family and friends. I just joined POG and didn't know Harold but my heart sank when I read this.  Sounds like he loved the type of riding I do and it hurts bad to lose one of us. Godspeed Harold!
