Hi all, I have just purchased a second hand 40mm Lectron carb for my KTM 420, I pulled it down to clean etc. but it seems to have a none adjustable needle jet. Is there a trick to move the needle up or down on some of the slides? my other carb has a grub srew that locks the needle adjustment but this 40mm carb has nothing that I can see to allow any adjustment. Anyone come across this issue?
Thanks, Kevin.
Kevin,
You need to get an Lectron manual for tuning. The Lectron needle does not use clips like other carb needels. On the Lectron you turn the needle clockwise or counterclockwise.
Try this site for instructions on tuning an Lectron.

There is a tool for adjusting the metering rod.

A 40mm Lectron will be a bit big even for a 420. A 38mm would be better. HOW old is that Lectron ? They have made big improvements over the past 3 years. Sounds like yours is probably 20-30 years old. You want one with the PowerJet for sure. A new one will only cost about $300. Lectron will also set it up for your bike.
thanks, got it sorted out now. There is a nylon nut in the slide with a tread inside, just turn the metering rod in or out to adjust with no lock screw needed. Hope the 40mm works OK, if not I will get a new 38.
