Title: Fork Disassembly
Post by: metalkfab on June 15, 2002, 11:27:21 AM
How do I remove the bolts from my fork tubes when the bolt and the internal components keep spinning togather?I've preloaded the spring with spacers and still the dampening rods keep spinning. My other bikes didn't give me this headache.I'm sorry for the stupid question. Hell,I don't mind being embarrassed asking questions--it keeps my mind off the cutting torch!

I use an air impact wrench and if they still spin, I stick a broom handle inside the tube to push against the assembly.  That will usually get the job done.

I welded a large easy out to a pipe. the easy out holds the rod from turning by going into the hole on top the rod.
