Title: 74.5 250 HS brake light switch install
Post by: derek martin on August 09, 2013, 06:34:59 PM
Would anyone have a picture of the brake light switch original installation on a 74.5 250 HS they could post? The brake light switch I believe is P/N 1.31.11.050.100. Thanks in advance.

Derek, My bike is in storage but try this photo. http://web.tiscali.it/ktm70/ann74-76.htm

You can sort of make out the switch.

Here is a good photo.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-80-Penton-KTM-BRAKE-LIGHT-SWITCH-GS-Enduro-stop-light-brakelight-Six-Days-/270741691732?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f09765d54&vxp=mtr

The switch for that bike lives behind the front edge of the right side cover where the number oval projects forward.  The little hook hanger goes into a hole in the switch, and the switch mounts to a hole on a frame tab, as I recall.  The wires run upwards from the switch.  The plunger runs downward with a spring to the pedal as I recall.  Your brake pedal should have a small hole that will align directly under the switch.  I might go to my storage later today and if so will snap a pic for you.  My 72 is totally different and the switch is on a swingarm tab near the brake backing plate.  If you search this site you will find photos.  Good luck!  John
