I've been at the end of my rope with my old Bing for the last 3 seasons. I finally have enough funds stashed away to purchase a Mikuni. I've done a bit of research and I think what I want is a 36mm VM Mikuni?
I've also read somewhere about a few altercations I may need to make to my air box? Can anyone verify that or will it mount right up like the Bing?
I had planned to get a Mikuni before the race next weekend, but may be forced to run the Bing one last time as the clock is ticking. If anyone knows where I can purchase a new one with 1-3 day shipping I may be in shape. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the contact Tom, and do you know if I'm correct in thinking that a 36mm is the one I want?

I put one on my 74.5 Had to modify the air boot. It replaced a worn out bing.

I am in the middle of a 36mm installation and will have some pictures late this weekend for you.
Sean, do a search of "mikuni harescrambler" and you'll find some great tips. I've got a 34 on mine, no air box changes and I use a radiator hose to mate the carb outlet to the manifold. The bikes starts and runs great, and it has more pulling power than I can handle. FYI, I'm not that fast!
Mick
Thanks for all the info. Looks like I'm going to run the Bing at least one more race weekend. I'm going to check in to the Mikuni when I get back. I had way too much on my plate leading up to this race weekend.

I've done the same thing, but had to go down a size on the slide. It had GEM reeds and an ace pipe. In hindsight I would have opted for the 34 as the 36 was bored out to 36.5mm and I had case clearance problems with the carb with the 36 not to mention lining up and modifying the airbox to fit the angle of the carb.
