Title: Ed James - Tank Painter in Texas
Post by: firstturn on March 28, 2014, 10:16:32 AM
Sadly I have to let people know that my painter (and for Bultacos also) past away Wednesday night.  He was a very good and honest person and he helped a lot of people over the years.  Also, I posting this to let anyone know that might have a tank at his shop will have the tank finished and shipped back to you.  If there is anyone here that is in that situation I will be happy to help his Bride get things right.  You can reach me at

I had the please to meet Ed some time ago when I visited with Ron, and was introduced to Ed at his shop. My sincere condolences go out to his family. A nicer guy and first rate painter would be hard to find. Mike

Ron,

So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

I've never met Ed, but have seen his work living through your bikes.

It's really sad to lose another craftsman/artisan from our era.

Many thanks to you for being there to help his family sort things out & complete his business.

Clark

Thanks Mike.

Thanks Clark and I know how hard it was to lose Mike Burgess.  Ed was a simple man with a Big and beautiful shop complete with machine shop and a large paint booth.  He was also a Certified Honda Mechanic from the late 1960's to the early 1970's.  I was amazed at how Ed problem solved motorcycles.  He will be missed

Thanks for your kind comments.  Just a note that Ed raced at Diamond Don's last year so he was still a sport at 70 years young.
