Title: 72 penton six days 125 chain links
Post by: mikerichards on April 24, 2014, 06:07:30 PM
Need to order a new chain for my 125.  It has a 14 tooth front sprocket and a 60 tooth rear sprocket.  Does anyone know the number of links needed.  Old chain got tossed......bugger

Buy the longest and cut it.   Standard RK 428 at Dennis Kirk around $25.

Dont hold me to this, but I think my '72 100 with 12/57 gearing took 132 links? I used an O-ring and I know EK was the only one that made a 428 O-ring long enough.

I have a parts manual that says "#51.10.065.000 chain, 125 links, (1/2 x 5/16)". But I seem to remember buying a 132 link chain (non-O ring) for my 72 Six Day and custom fitting it.

Can't go wrong if you buy'em too long....  Excess makes a great sprocket holder.

Just bought three 132 link DID chains this week for my restoration projects. The 125 link chain will work with most rear sprockets but it doesn't hurt to have a little extra.
