Title: A Word of Caution About PENTON Movie Tickets
Post by: BlueRidgePathfinder on June 19, 2014, 05:57:21 PM
Howdy folks,

Some of the folks who purchased multiple tickets for our screening of the new motion picture PENTON: The John Penton Story next Thursday evening have experience problems with the blurred QR codes on some of their tickets, which must be printed from a downloaded .pdf file.

The problem is not an issue with the actual printer being used, but with the graphic file itself.

This problem does not seem to occur on the first ticket in a multiple sequence, but on the subsequent ticket.

In some cases, after reporting the problem to Gathr Films Customer Support a replacement .pdf file containing corrected tickets was sent to the buyer, but the problem remained.

Therefore I recommend that you print your tickets as soon as you receive your e-mail from Gathr Films with the .pdf file containing your tickets attached. Then if there is a problem with yours Gathr Films Customer Support will have time to rectify the problem in plenty of time before the event.

All the best,

Al Roof

I had printed out three batches.  The two smaller ones the QR printed out perfectly clear and dark black.  The larger file of 15 is somewhat blurred in grey tones which I thought was caused by my ink cartridge which needed replacing.  New cartridge same result.  Call to the sweet young girl at GATHR customer service goes something like this.  "We have had some problem with files and they thought/think they were corrected.  She told me not to worry the theater and GATHR would accept them."  I'm not instilled with a whole lot of confidence.  These were my backups in case a walk-up came without a prior purchase. Gang,

I just printed my (4) tix off for Brea and they were all fine. But, I did send Gathr, Al's note to me (Thank Al Roof!) to see what they say.

Will keep everyone posted.

I'm confident that it will get resolved or temp fix (like theaters accepting tix with less than 100% QR codes will be ok.

Thanks for everyone's support!

Todd

I went to my local theater today and talked with the manager who was familiar with the movie coming and said she would be there the night (next Tuesday) of the showing.  Since they were not one of the GATHR network venues this will be their first.  I explained and showed her both examples of the tickets and she saw no problem at all with the fuzzified QR.  [:X]

Call me very encouraged that everything will come together. :D

The viewing is still gaining Momentum as tickets are still being purchased at a brisk pace, almost all of my extra tickets now spoken for, and the theater is getting closer to being filled to capacity with old and what will be new Penton fans [:p]

Another word of caution to the new to Penton crowd: you might just wind up with a garage full of Pentons after seeing this movie, like that's a bad thing...Lol Mike
