Hi All,
I am planning to have the crank of my 1973 Hare Scrambler rebuilt using a connecting rod set by Al Buehner.
In the process of disassembly I notice that on the right side the inner race of the main bearing has no longer a press fit but can be pulled off by hand. It does have a tight slip fit though. This situation is, of course, no good as the main bearing's inner race can rotate when in operation, making this situation worse. Does anybody have experience in how to deal with this situation? I was thinking to use Loctite 640 to secure the inner race but don't know how durable such a fix is. I would greatly appreciate to hear of any experience you might have on this problem before committing a $200 connecting rod (plus work cost) to this repair.
Thanks
Andreas
