Title: Which Rim?
Post by: Mick Milakovic on July 19, 2014, 05:21:01 PM
Getting ready to lace up a different front rim on my Harescrambler and I have three choices; which would you guys use, and why?  DID, Takasago (from an '83 RM 250) or Sun?

If you should find yourself in the market for a rear Sun rim, I've got a good used gold rim that I just unlaced from a 76 Penton 250 cross country which had a cracked hub. Let me know.

I put new Takasago Excel rims and Buchanan spokes on my '74 HS 250. They work great, but if I had it to do again I would spend a few extra bucks and go with Sun. I think they're more correct on Pentons and are made in the USA.

I have an original set of wheels with Suns that I took off a '76 MC5 400  carcass and put on my '74 1/2 HS 250. Of course if you have good rims on hand and don't have to buy new, you can just go with whichever set are in the best condition.
