Greetings all, I have a question re: my shifter. The feel of the shifts are very soft and indistinct which results in missed shifts. Downshifts are of course worse since the bootsole provides little feedback. I did read my manual re: overshift adjustment but am not sure that's really the problem. I can find my gears if paying close attention. It doesn't pop out of gear. I just can't feel or hear them. Which means most attention while riding is focused on shifting. I have a NOS selector key in there but wonder if maybe the selector rod itself is worn. It also makes my blood run cold when I miss and send the RPM's in the stratosphere. I just thought I'd better check in here before starting to puzzle my way through. Thanks in advance..., Fred

Check the shift boss to see if the stop cams are not adjusted properly (if you have them). You also need an equal amount of over and under shift for the selector rod to function properly. This can be done by removing the clutch cover and clutch and spinning the CS sprocket less chain while shifting. Hold up on the shifter and see if the fork is a bit loose between second and third while shifting up then do the same through all gears. Then do the same while downshifting and check while holding the shifter down between gears. Have to have shift fork equal play up shifting and downshifting. If not, it needs adjusted! Good luck!
Turning high rpm under no load for a second really doesn't hurt a two stroke.

Thanks for the responses gents, and Kip, thanks for the 'method' you described. I'll go through that next chance I get. I'm in the middle of a "no fun" project at the moment.:( And, that's a bit of soothing news from you other guys re: the over revs. Now, if it weren't for the fact that everybody within a five mile radius of my place can here my screwups I'd be golden. Having that stinger is about the same as shouting from the rooftops.:D Also, 'sorry for the delayed response. Cheers, Fred
