What is the best way to retore the serial number tags on the motoplat side cover of the 6B.... Thks BT

Lightly glass bead or strip any old paint off.  Spray the tag with a light coat of black paint.  Then wrap a piece of 600 wet or dry sandpaper around the edge of one of the 1/4" thick rubber sanding pads.  Carefully let the flat edge of the block and the 600 wet-sand away the paint from the top of all raised surfaces in the plate until satisfied.  Here's one I just did:
