Title: Jackpiner Crank Seal Mystery
Post by: wfopete on September 25, 2014, 07:08:58 PM
Was there a crank diameter change in Jackpiners between '73 and '74?

Story:

I went to replace the crank seal (ignition side) of my '74 (?) Jackpiner.  The numbers on the old rubber type seal are 30x20x7.  I was surprised when my I compared it to my new seal was larger, had a metal casing and which did not come close to fitting.  Then I compared the old seal to a seal in another Jackpine motor I had on the bench.  The second Jackpiner motor seal was the same as the new seal (larger than the old seal). So I have two Jackpiner motors with different crank seals.

I just got off the phone with Chicago Jerry and he explained the many mysterious possibilities of Piner crankshafts. I think I have a 73 motor in a 74 chassis.
