Is there any difference between a 175 and 250 pipe for the GS6 models? I have both pipes, and did some quick measurements, and they are very close to being the same, except for the tail pieces... Any thought on it?
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

The head pipe inlet and middle section is much smaller on the 175. It won't fit on a 250 exhaust manifold. The manifold outside and pipe inlet is the same on a 125 & 175. Mike

If the pipes are for a 1976 GS, then they are the same. In 1976 the 7 fin 175 exhaust is the same outlet. Hope this will help.
GS-6 175, which was only made in 77-78, uses the 6 fin short cylinder engine. As Gary mentioned the 76 Cross Country, which is often referred to as a GS would be the same pipe inlet size. Mike

Wait a minute, back up here..... So you are telling me that the 175 GS-6 was only made in 77-78? So what is a 76 model called? Okay, getting past the name.... so, the inlet sizes are the same, but what about the cone sizes throughout the length of the pipe? Are they the same too? The end piece is very different; the 250 has a cone shaped piece, and the 175 has a cap with two holes in it. Thanks again for helping Gary and Mike!

GS6 models are 1977-78 only. GS6 models have the large "turtle back" frame backbone. The 76 is a Cross Country model. Some people refer to them as GS models, but the home page info under production years lists them as Cross Country. Not sure about 76 center pipe diameter, but I would think there us some difference. 74-76 175 7 fin motor. 175 77-78 6 fin motor. If you want that 175 to sing, put the 250 pipe on it. Just saying...:D:D
Thanks guys! Your wealth of information is greatly appreciated!
