Title: My Dad's Penton Hybrid
Post by: Gary Roach on January 25, 2015, 11:12:23 AM
My Dad had a couple of bikes laying around and way too much time on his hands, so he threw the two together and came up with this. This picture is of me riding the bike in a Chillicothe, Ohio Enduro in 1980. I had a KTM 125 at the time, but I blew it up just a few days before the Enduro and didn't have enough time to get it rebuilt, so I raced my Dad's hybrid. Even with the flat front tire and the bars getting pushed back, I still managed a 3rd place in the 125 Class. This is the very first picture of me riding a motorcycle with "Penton" on the gas tank. It would be 20 years later before I would have the second picture.

Anyone want to guess what it's built from?

Gary,

Frame looks like a Montesa with the single down tube then flaring out under the motor.  Forks look like Betor.

My guess, 76/77 Suzuki RM frame and pipe.
