Title: Penton Enduro Tank for sale
Post by: MI_400MC5 on February 17, 2015, 09:28:55 PM
Selling a Penton Enduro tank.  My father originally had a 1977 Penton MC5 400 bike and sold it a few years ago.  Have this tank left over and would like to sell it.  Some people told me this tank would not work on a MC5, but I do remember my dad had it on the bike when he would ride trails.  Tank is orange in color.  I don't have gas cap for it.  If interested I can send pictures.  I'm located in Lapeer Michigan.

Please send me some pics and a price. The underside pic would help also. Thanks, [email protected] Mike

Greg just sent me pics, and it is a 76-77 MC5 Enduro tank that he has for sale, I am just posting the pics for him. While not the correct white color tank, it would also fit the 78 MC-5 and early 79 MX-6 frame. Mike

So,this tank is made to fit a 76-77 MC5 Motocross frame but will not fit the high breather style frame of a 76 GS Enduro? And a 77 GS6 tank is altogether different from this, is'nt it?

Bob, you are correct. The GS-6 has a very much larger tunnel especially in the front and no tab in the back, just a wide flat lip. MC5's have a single tube on the backbone that fits up in that narrow underneath section of the tank, and 2 smaller tubes beneath it. It is more like the 72 style frames. I have used a non-hi breather Berkshire tank on my MC5 before. The high breathers have a larger slightly squared backbone. Mike

Greg,
What price are you looking to get? I happen to have a real nice 77 GS6 tank that has that wide tunnel Mike mentioned, that I do not have a need for and am planning to also offer it up here on the forum pretty soon.
                  Thanks, Bob
