Hi all; I'm looking for a chain conversion sprocket for my penton 125 from 428 to 520 chain, also a Bassani Exhausts for a penton 125cc. Any help would be great!

I've read Al Buehner supplies these sprockets. I'm looking to do the same thing with my Penton 125.

I would first have to start by questioning why you would be considering the change.  I have been using D.I.D. 428 std and 428 HD for years without any issues.

The rear sprocket could/would need to be made up by a sprocket specialty company as a special.  The front sprocket has no easy solution for changing configuration due to the shape.

Use the 520 only if you want to be very slow.  Listen to what Dales says.

The 1972 Jackpiner rear sprocket will bolt up to the CMF bikes and is 520 but to the best of my knowledge Sachs never made one for the 100 and 125 motors as a countershaft sprocket.  Agree also on the why would you want to as it robs horsepower from an already needy engine.

The initial reason I got the idea is I could sware I saw a Penton 125 under the POG tent at Vintage Days with a 520 chain. There was also a Penton 125 with a 428 chain right next to it. The chains were noticeably different in size. I believe the one with the larger chain was a 74' model? I will stick with what I got! Thank you all for the advice.

Thanks to all for your input, I was going off the specs give to me from Metco Racing. The spec where for motor mods and the chain. Metco said that the 420 chain was not strong enough back then, so they used 520 chain. I did race the bike back in the late 90s, but not with the new mods. At this time bike has all the new mods, but still working on jetting. I will let all know how it goes.

My 73, 74 and 75 Six Day all have 428, FYI>
