Title: 1974 Six Day Project - Hubs Desired
Post by: VICTOR MONZ on September 24, 2015, 09:27:38 AM
I am restoring a '74 Six Day and spending too much time on the wheels/hubs/axles/wheel bearing, kind of rusted together.

If anyone has a set of front and rear, I believe, magnesium, black hubs and axle system, with large diameter cushions, I have the sprocket carrier coming my way, of course NOS would be the best, but a nice set so I can move along on the project and send them to Buchanan for SS spokes and Sun rims.

Thanks.

Good luck with your re-hab of the 74 Six Day. As you probably know, the black magnesium hubs used from 73 thru 75 are quite the rare bird to find in good condition, much less sold separately.

Great to see SoCal holding up the Penton front, Mr. Monz.  Any rumors out there as to the NEXT Catalina Grand Prix event?

I got up at 3:30 am this morning determined to remove the bearings and rusted inserts from my 74 hubs to replace the bearings on my black hubs, a little prayer and got it !

Praise the Lord ! And a good soaking in my special mix of motor oil, gasoline and WD 40 and a bigger hammer !

Thanks for the input.

No knowledge of Catalina, but I'll keep my ears posted.

Victor,

No, it's marvel mystery oil, ATF and karosine in some special formula which will really loosen things up.

have fun,
