Title: 1974 penton 250 Hare Scrambler barn find
Post by: pklinck on September 28, 2015, 07:44:07 PM
I bought a complete original early 250 hare scrambler with the intention of rebuilding it along with other penton 100-125s on the plate.   I decided this will be beyond my finance as I am a big fan of the sachs powered pentons.

HARE SCRAMBLER INFO:  this bike has the red watermelon tank, wheels good, nice exhaust system, front forks loose, rear konis, etc.  It has not been started in years. I would be willing to sell it for about 600 bucks (OBO) or to barter with 73-74 sachs powered penton parts.  Parts I need most are early 73 frame, 32mm forks, ok wheels (1 or 2), B motor bottomend, etc. or equivalent find.

I'll get a couple of pics in a day or two.  Any interest or contacts to share, email me at [email protected] .

Thanks, Peter Klinck, POG member

Peter,
Where are you located?  I probably have everything you need if I haven't sold the parts?

Hi Peter,

I just sent you an email to the address you stated and it bounced as undeliverable. Can you please check the address for correctness?

Folks,

Sorry for not responding.  I have been flat out work overtime and building a studio on my land after the house burnt last year.

Listen,  yes, I took some photos today and have to take others for something else on a borrowed camera.  No, the bike has not been sold while i have not been responding since too busy.

LOCATION:  The bike is in Vermont, not far from New Hampshire.  Rob, could this bike be front/back loaded in that transport of parts going from your place to your buyer, another POG member in Vermont??

Addition info in bike condition:  I noticed that this 250 shifts gears even though the piston could be stuck alittle.  I shifted in to second and first and was able to get it back to neutral.  It has a tranny slow drip leak as i noticed when the bike sat for a week on the back of my truck.  SO the gears are thus presumably free, the kick start shaft is fine, loose, moves, sprocket gear (attached chain) rolls fine when i push the bike around.

The bike is basically original and all together.  I noticed the nice grey/silver magura switch still on the handle bars.  this bike was ice raced passed it's prime as is noted by the studs on the tires.  It is a Jan, 1974 VIN with a red watermelon tank and short seat on it.

My suggestion is to pursue by email so i can send pictures this coming week.  My sis will have to load them on her camera, select together, and send them to my email box first.

keep in touch all,

peter klinck
