Title: Visiting Dave (a midwest member and his museum).
Post by: Dale Fisher on October 04, 2015, 08:55:20 AM
I'm looking for comment on interest in setting up a group event for next spring.  Keep in mind if you are passing through prior the opportunity and an invitation to explore this gem has been extended to all.  It is recommended you contact Dave to let him know you are coming.

Would there be interest in picking a weekend where a group of us could meet at Dave Sanders residence in Lawrenceville, Illinois?  Lawrenceville is located about mid way between St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Louisville.  He does have and area to ride and possibly camp.  Hotels are available nearby in Vincennes (about 20 minutes away).  The highlight of the weekend would be the opportunity to talk and visit with Dave and Diane and visit his personal museum.

Options to explore could include riding, field games, a barbecue, and possibly an informal meeting.

Dave was a Penton dealer back in the day and not only collects but rides. You better be on your A game if you're going to keep up with him in the woods.

Toolsurfer,
I've never been to the Boiling Springs race.

I was a west coast guy until 2000 and was born in 1969 so I missed all the golden years of motorcycle evolution.

Dave sure has a great collection of Penton stuff.

Hey Dave. I'm having trouble finding your address on Bing maps. All the roads in your area are marked with numbers. Whats your rd number?

I wonder how many EXC 250 "öBH" (Federal Austrian Army) made it to the USA. From time to time you can find two original skids for each side, so you can ride the bike on snow.

Hard to find, even in Austria. 2 years ago I found a set for 550 € (630 US$) for a museum's bike

Thanks for the kind words and thanks to all that came.  If I can get my health better maybe we'll have another meet.  Things went really smooth.  You POGers were really great.  I didnt get everthing done I wanted to but it was still rewarding to use. Again, Thanks from Dave & Di.

Thanks to Dave and Diane for hosting a cool event. I was introduced to some really nice folks and a sweet collection of bikes. Dave truly bleeds bikes and Diane seems to truly enjoy everyone.

And the bonus I was not expecting was meeting the Pentons.

Linked are some photos I took.
