Title: WTB: Exhaust for '71 125
Post by: RobertFrey on December 31, 2015, 07:49:50 PM
Looking for a stock exhaust and silencer for my '71 steel tanker project. Even a low pipe stinger will he considered.

Steel Tanker reproduction pipes for the 1970-71 models are available from Parmabike (Roberto) on eBay from time to time. Looks like he is out of stock at the moment but they show up every few months. They are pricey at around $600 but high quality and just like the originals. There are a few of the aftermarket down pipes around, hopefully one of the guys will offer you up one.

I'll take a couple of pictures of the Circle F pipe that I set aside and don't have a future project for.  There are a couple of things that make his reproduction pipes "distinctive".  You would need to furnish the baffle, end cap, and springs (all available from AL).  All except for the springs would need painting.  Without the additional pieces it cost me $225 when I purchased in 2013.

Roberto's Ebay pipe is complete and ready to install.  If you contact him directly POG members receive a discount.

It's been hanging in the rafters of the basement.

Overall photograph of the Circle F pipe.

I asked if he could butt the shield together in the corner more like an original.  This is how he makes them.

I asked if he could put the shroud weld on the inside.  This is how he makes them.

Dennis, I had sent Kevin the internal baffle and end cap with springs purchased from Al and it was shipped back complete/assembled/unpainted.

Ended up using all but this on the pipe he repaired the shroud on.

I'm confused now. What pipe is for sale? A complete or needs completion?

To clarify, I used the reproduction end cap, baffle, and springs on my original repaired exhaust.  The price of $200 plus shipping is as shown in the photographs (patina included) was $230 new (pre-patina).

Al appears to be sold out of the ends, the baffle is $43, and stainless springs $12.

Roberto has the end listed, although I'm not positive the spring tabs are in the same location as Al's

Okay. Just wanna make sure I have this straight.

This pipe will need an end cap, baffle, and springs.

And it will fit a '71 steel tank 125.

Robert, that sums it up perfectly.  Note.... no matter what pipe you install you will also need the chrome mounting bracket that encircles the shroud if you don't have one.

Chrome bracket show in the photo on this thread.  It's fun to install without scratching the paint on the pipe [V]

That sounds fair Dale.

If I purchase your pipe I will have a stock pipe (no end cap or baffle) that needs the last two sections repaired for sale

So the end piece just stays on by springs and is not welded on?

That's correct. You need to repack it from time to time so you'll need access to the inside baffle.

After all this is resolved I am going to be selling 4 1970/71 pipes.  I will list them after Dale's pipe has sold.
