400? The engine cases aren't the 560 type.

The engine ID number would tell for certain whether it's an early 1979 400. Located just above the ignition cover underneath the cylinder fins On the right hand side just behind the engine mount bolt boss is a Number Like 9 - 55xxxxxx if it is a 400. Mike

Engine number is 9-5508427 so it must be a 400 and not a 420, I was going by the frame number as what size the bike was my mistake.

I am traveling with an enclosed trailer not far from this area on a trip out East next weekend Feb 6th-8th, if anyone needs to take advantage of transport. I will be leaving Newton Illinois on Saturday Morning and heading out to Malvern PA, on up to Germantown, NY, and up as far as Jamaica VT. then back down to Columbus, Oh and back to Illinois. ktmkirk, would you have a 74 or 5 250 penton that you would sell?
I see a few in the pictures. I wish I saw this post last week, I just bought an old husky yesterday but maybe I can swing another purchase.

Ok, you can email me about it at [email protected]. Maybe give me an idea of what you want before going thru too much trouble. I want to make sure I have the funds since I just bought another bike.
Thanks

Kirk,
Shopping around for my first Penton, if I'm following this strand correctly you have a barn full. What's the chances I could visit to look around with cash in hand. Only a couple hours from you.  Drawn towards enduro's with lights and appreciate them as stock as possible but open to year and model beyond that. Ready to ride condition my preference but again flexible. Kind regards, Sammie. (740)507-4109.

Purchased a 72 JP from the Kirk Sessions collection yesterday. Not everything was for sale but plenty to make it a difficult choice for me. Can't imaging there was a better selection even in a Penton showroom back in the day. The background checks were worth the effort for admission and the armed security guards understandable.  : ). Kirk gives  credit to the POG for my admission and for that I am truely grateful to the group. A very gracious host and enjoyable pick for my first Penton. Much appreciated Kirk and POG.
