A special thanks goes to Karen Turner for working through the issues and restoring the engine number and frame number links.

And some silly other bikes...
Since I don't see my '77 GS6 400 listed in the frame numbers, I'll send a note in to add it: 70100056
I'm looking for the engine number but I can't seem to find it.
Any hints where to look?
Thank you.

Where/whom do I send my Frame and Engine serials to be added to the roster?

This is a very interesting listing! I sent you my numbers (1973 Penton Hare Scrambler) by email. It appears that my 250 ccm engine has the second lowest number in the list, who new.

The engine number is directly above the ignition cover on the right hand side of near the front edge of the engine by the front motor mount boss. Since yours is a 77 400, it will start with 7-55xxxxx. Mike

So, my frame number is an early JAN77 number: 70100056 ('77 GS6 400)
My engine number is 6 5502918
Are the engine number sequences that precise that my engine number should start with a "7", is it possible that an "6" engine went in my early production '77 or is it just not the original engine?
What's the consensus and thanks as always for any input.

It is very common for early in the year frames to have late previous year engines as they were not matched, only grabbed from assembly as needed. Mike
