Looking great! What year, what displacement? Post some more pictures. Did you build the bike yourself?

Black hubs for used up until 1978. This appears to be a 76 250 Cross Country, based on what appears to be the reinforced lower steering head section and ribbed Ceriani forks. Mike

I think this bike was originally an MC250. I have one that I bought new from Penton West in 1975 it is frame number 5450382994. I've sent Doug a note asking what the frame number is on this one. Mine came with the MX tank and had KTM only on the back of the seat. These were made available on the west coast and sold for Motocross and Desert racing just prior to the introduction of the MC5's which came out in late 1975 / early 1976.

Cal, frame number is 54 506 84879, motor number is also matching 5-, while not the he old one in the original pictures. Al says that this is a true '75 1/2.

Andreas, This is a 250, more pictures may be found on the for sale/wanted page. I did all the work myself except for the machine work which Jerry Buerke did the bottom end, and Kustom Kraft did the resleeve.

Thanks Doug, looks like your's is a June production model and mine was built in March 75. When my friend and I ordered them, our dealer called up his buddy at Penton (a guy by the name of Carl Cranke) who pulled a few strings for us. We were able to get the first two in the state. We thought we had won the lottery. Very hard to find bikes then and now (especially of this quality).

Sure looks like a 1976 to me . Saw them at Hub Yamaha and Penton in Cookeville , TN in 1976 . Their star rider put on and exhibition on hole shots and the like for me . The Tank, Decals, expansion chamber looks like the bike at the time I wished I owned . $$$$$

There is really no difference between a late 75 and a 76 Cross Country other than a red tank and air box versus an orange one for the Cross Country. Personally I like the red much better. Some of the later 76's had a little more travel front forks with 220 stamped into the lower legs. Mike

Mike, it is neither red or orange, somewhere in between. I went through many samples for full red and the KTM orange of what was on that tank that I rebuilt. The tank's picture made the POG group about the time I arrived here a few years back. Then I found it on ebay and got it from a Texas location. I poked around the Europe KTM groups for pictures until I found what I was looking for. So based on the inside of the airbox color, I chose to match it. This was based on in the shade, indoors, outdoors sun and even on a cloudy day. And it is true that all the color gel coats runs where not the same. So somewhere in there KTM ran out of red and started using orange. I hind sight the old plastic tank from this bike was a HiPoint tank with petcocks. It would have been easier to refurbish, which is still available in my stash of parts.

I am still holding your jug.
