Does anyone know of a source for the screws that hold on the seat trim? Or how to make some, maybe? Mine have rusted away, and I don't believe Al has any.......
Mick
I noted something a little curious the other day as I was working on re-installing the trim after partially getting a recover done (still have to glue down the rear).
When I removed the trim I carefully placed it in the orientation that it came off in. After moving it a couple of times and then being in a hurry I grabbed what was closest. Left side went on with only slight difficulty. Right side was going on no way as the screws seemed way too short and the end barely visible through the inside vinyl. It took awhile before it dawned on me to compare the left and right sides. The screws on one side were longer than the other. Flip-flopped the two trim pieces and finished the install <whew> [^]
Note: Don't do this [V]

Hi,mick. I have a package of screws tagged as seat cover retainers, there are 8 of them with nuts and washers.
[email protected] I can e mail photo
Thanks John, email sent. Dale, is this how most guys are fixing the problem with a lack of seat trim screws? I mean, using pop rivets?
Mick
Mick, I recently recovered my seat that did not have trim. I purchased the trim from a POG member and the t-bolts were not long enough. From one of our hardware stores I purchased some small stainless bolts/screws to match the nuts from the t-bolts. 3 or 4 mm, I believe. I filed flat spots on opposing sides band thinned the heads until they slid into the extrusion.

I bought them from Fastenal super long then cut them after doing the trim on the seat.
I think they are 3mmx.80thd and before I would use rivets to fasten the seat trim I would leave it off. You can take 3mm screw and modify head if necessary . Just finished my seat over the weekend . Long / tall for 74 1/2 250 and it came out looking very good . Will try and post pictures. Never tried that out yet,but we will see .
Here are the photos from Toolsurfer.

I can speak from recent experience how much fun is involved in recovering a seat having spent a considerable amount of time making sure my cover was nice and tight. The side trim helps hold the vinyl in place but the front and rear are a little harder to obtain good results. My adhesive kept creeping over a few days and resulted in a couple do-overs.
