(1) Have there been any changes in leather tank straps through the years.

(2) Are they all the same length with the gas cap hole cut in the same place?

I ask this because I've found a 1972 125 6-Day tank stap for sale and wondered if it would fit my 1977 400gs6?

i cannot answere your question. Why not take some measurements and let us know the dimensions & we can check against our 77's.

I have a 77 250GS6.

Thanks's, but I don't have physical access to the 72' 125 6-Day strap....I'll ask the owner to send me some measurements and I'll compare them to my old 77 400gs6 strap.

Yes, the straps were made to fit the individual tanks, but I doubt there are any records about the various lengths.
