Title: Internal rotor Motoplat
Post by: Carl Hill on June 08, 2016, 06:51:12 AM
I am putting an internal rotor Motoplat ignition on my 74 250. I see the timing mark on the rotor and advance mark on the stator but do not see "T" Mark. What am I missing?

I think you do those like a PVL, put the engine at TDC, rotate backwards to your timing point (2.6mm BTDC if I recall for the 250) then match the stator mark to the mark on the rotor.

I guess the F-Mark is really what I need. If I set it to fire on the advance mark I am afraid it may kick back and damage something.

You dont need another mark. You need to know two points, TDC and then whatever point BTDC your timing specs are, which as I said I think for a 250 is 2.5 or 2.6mm BTDC. Once you fund TDC, roll the crank backwards to 2.5mm BTDC and line up the stator mark with the rotor mark. You are done.
