Title: Ebay Jackpiner - Seriously?
Post by: Dale Fisher on June 23, 2016, 04:36:59 PM
There has been some unusually high bidding on Ebay Pentons these days.  My question is how do you define "Completely stock, original and in showroom condition"  [?]

That surely can not be for real.  It is not even completely correct.  Even if it was perfect that is crazy money if it is for real bidding.  Makes no sense to me.  Baffling!

What then would a true stock oem original bid out at? I called the seller told him you are misleading buyers...

I am personally encouraged to see the value of these old bikes increasing.  Remember that all of the muscle cars from the 60's and 70's weren't always hundreds of thousands of dollars either.  Even though that particular Jackpiner isn't exactly original or correct, the amount of money and endless hours to make them that nicely detailed doesn't result in any significant amount of financial profit.

No argument there. In all actuality, they're all priceless in my book!

I happen to know the seller and the bike. The listing is a good representation of what the buyer got, and nobody twisted his arm to pay that price for it. I have heard of people paying more than double that for a 250 Elsinore, or paying $1200 for a tire! Anything is only worth what a person is willing to pay. All the Penton owners should be happy!

Great thread.  I have found in the last 6 years that sometimes it is easier for me to buy a complete bike to complete a project that I have had around for several years waiting for nice correct parts.  Excellent parts and basic engines are getting harder to find and that is why I buy them when the come available not when I need them.  Like I said great thread.
