Title: Removal of rubber plugs in cylinder fins
Post by: Jdbglover on August 23, 2002, 11:11:41 AM
Is it okay to use a heat gun to soften up the four rubber plugs in the cylinder fins, so that the plugs can be removed, so that you can paint the cylinder?  Or is there a better method to remove the above plugs witout tearing the plugs in two?

Secondly, do the triple trees for a '75 Penton have a painted finish, polished alloy finish, or a brushed alloy finish?

Thank You

John

The last ones I removed I just oiled them and pulled them out with pliers. I think heating them would hurt the cause, make them gummy and sticky? Teddy
