Title: 73 250 Pipe
Post by: KJDonovan on August 01, 2016, 08:00:09 AM
Does anyone know if the 73 250 exhaust is essentially the same as 73 Jack Piner pipe?  I realize they are different pipes, what I am trying figure out is, are they are basically the same except for the additional short piece of tube on the shroud end of the 250 pipe and the fish tail/box type silencer?

I ask because I am resurrecting 250 that came to me as a basket case and the pipe with it looks like a Jack Piner pipe right down to the silencer.  I don't know if this pipe is a 250 pipe that had the tail piece modified or a Jack Piner pipe that does not belong with the bike.  Below are a few photo's of the pipe in question.

Thanks, Kevin.

That is a 175 pipe. The 250 pipe is bigger in the front. It will work but won't let the motor breath well.

Thanks Gary, that's exactly what I needed to know. So it looks like the hunt for a 73 250 pipe is on.

If you want to sell the 175 pipe,I am interested in it. I have a 250 pipe with a chome tip. It could be used.  Not correct for that year, but could be right.

I'm building one too...
I'll use the 74 pipe and strip it back, get shrouding/brackets made to be similar to the original, buy one of the repro double ended mufflers to fit etc. Alot of work, but i have a mate that will help out...

Man, that motor would look good in my bike...lol, save me building mine up to look that good.

Just started a '73 250 yellow tanker project. Any chances anpother NOS pipe might be out there? This one's salvagable but the tail section is pretty beat up. Thanks  [email protected]
