What was planned as a two day AHRMA Regional has been rescheduled to just Saturday September 17th. Vintage and Post Vintage will be running on the same day. POG plans have been scaled back to seeking as many members and Penton Sportcycles as possible to participate in racing activities or for display. I am definitely planning on attending and bringing one or more bikes to take a spin around the same track John, Jack, Tom, Jeff, and Dane along with many more of our members raced on. Location is only a couple of miles from where it all began. Hope to see you there!

I really wanted to race that event. I lived in Lorain county as a kid and went to that track many times. Unfortunately my mean old Uncle Sam is making me work that weekend. Maybe next year
I'm looking forward to attending and racing on the 17th. Took the Cheney Triumph to the AHRMA Delta National last weekend and raced for a tuneup.

Mother nature served up a variety of weather Saturday in Amherst. About 2:00 am heavy the heavy rain and lightning began. Arriving at the Amherst Meadowlarks track just after 6:00 am there were a few on and off showers still to come. The regional AHRMA event was going to be delayed but they did start uncapping the track at around 10. The riders meeting was held at 11 followed by practice. The first laps were challenging to say the least and the stick to everything mud pretty relentless (love Ohio clay/mud). I was the only Penton there and in the first moto managed to fall into the largest mud hole which was also the most visible to the onlookers. With my leg pinned under the bike in foot deep water I was able to keep the bike running until help came to stand both of us up.
Finished the first race a lap short as a result. By the second moto clear dryer lines had continued to develop and I enjoyed my second event this year very much although still rusty after a two year absence from racing. Most were loaded up and headed home before 2:30. I was a little delayed pitching the fellow who did the starter duties and also assisted me in the slip and fall. He is going to try to make the next meeting and has been inquiring with Chicago Jerry and others looking for a 400 project. A big thank you to Scott Brogan and Jim Novak (plus a couple of other familiar faces) who were spectating and offering up support. The Amherst Meadowlarks did a great job of coordinating the event and making the track rideable. It was certainly a huge personal reward to ride along (in my mind) with the legendary racers who raced here previously.
