Just want to check the timing for my 76 125. I have it set at 1.8 mm BTDC which i found from a 76 tech bulletin. Is this what I should set it up at as I am having problems keeping the bike running cleanly.
What ignition? Motoplat 3.0mm BTDC
Motoplat Kip. Gone from internal rotor to lighting coil just to see if the ignition works. Bike started ran for about 30 sec then seemed to bog down and stop. Still had a fat spark. tried to start it today but no joy and then got distracted. Changed ignitions also because I'm doing more vinduros than mx. Would also appreciate jetting info. Can't remember what size carby I am running. Will check tomorrow. Cheers Bill
Bill, I have never seen one of those KTM 125s run right. Have had several and can never figure out if it is carb, jetting, or ignition. Hope you get it dialed.

I had a 1976 125 MC5 that ran great "back in the day" (bought it used in 1978) - it had a Lectron carb, and an external rotor Motoplat, if that helps.
I've ridden a couple, all with Bings, and I agree with Larry, none of them ran right. I think the carburetor is too big.
