My brother purchased this bike new off showroom floor while living in Germany. He raced it in Germany for 2 years then took bike apart and shipped it to the US. I raced bike until 1987, mainly did blackjack enduros, a few hare scrambles. I never once had to do anything to the bike. No top end no fork seals. I sold the bike back in 1988, recently found the bike it had any been to 2 other people. The guy I sold it to only kept it for 2 months then sold it to the guy I purchased it back from. He told me he never rode the bike, he said he just purchased it to help the other guy out who needed money. He even had my repair manuals.  Had to drive 16 hours to get bike.  But now it is never leaving again.

WOW, that is a cool story. I'm not the biggest Penton authority, but between my experience with them back in the day, and reading this forum pretty carefully since I found back in 2001 or 2002, I have never heard of or read of an an aluminum tank like that either. As cool as the Hi-Point tanks look polished out, that big slab sided thing would certainly stand out at the starting line, wouldn't it! I wonder how many of those might be lying around over in Europe?
   Thanks for posting,

I have emailed some guys over there and they said most of the aluminum tank bikes were built for the factory race teams. Still doing research on it.
