Hi all,
For those who like the big bore air cooled KTM's, I spotted this nice looking one on Oklahoma City craigslist. Looks like it was posted a couple weeks ago.

I'm just wondering how close those engines were to the Penton Mint 400 during it's production? From what you can see in the photos, it looks very similar. Would that era of engine fit in an earlier frame and vice versa to a certain extent? Not looking to do it, but just curious.

Dan, in 1979 on the 420, and the mid 1980 up engines utilized a "through the rear engine mount" swingarm pivot bolt, eliminating the separate rear engine mount bolt, thus moving the swingarm pivot point closer to the countershaft sprovket. It could probably be done but splicing mounts from the later frame would be required to put it in an earlier chassis and using the later swing arm. Mike
