Good starting point is: fork leg collapsed, spring removed and fill to 6" from top....weight of oil comes into play.

Hey Ed, next time, buy some automatic transmission oil instead of 10wt fork oil; you can save yourself a few dollars....

1978 MC 5 125/175 & All GS6
Marzocchi    35mm           250mm   280cc   265cc   10wt
1977 GS6 & MC5   Marzocchi 35mm   220mm   240cc   220cc   10wt
Late 1977 MC5   Marzocchi 35mm   240mm   265cc   250cc   10wt
Marzocchi    35mm           220mm   240cc   220cc   10wt

The first cc amount is a total disassembly and fill, the second cc amount is just a drain and refill.

I personally don't feel ATF has enough viscosity for MX which is mostly my game.  Felt like it was fine for woods though.  Just my 2 cents.
