Title: Sachs head question
Post by: Ajf on December 31, 2017, 03:43:22 PM
Hello. I have this butch sachs head and noticed a bunch of dings, nicks in the dome area and wondered if it's usable or junk.(http://i67.tinypic.com/29q18vb.jpg) Thanks.

If there is no metal lodged in the nicks that may come loose later, I would just polish it as smooth as possible and use it. These things don't grow on trees you know! Especially is it is just for a rider. Should not hurt performance to any great extent. It all from a piece of ring or  piston skirt that got on top of the piton while it was last running.
Type at you later and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Make sure you have a good sealing surface between head and cylinder.
