Title: Cool historic parts in storage
Post by: rob w on August 22, 2018, 10:53:05 AM
Ran across these parts in a Moto Armory building. Ted Penton reed on Sachs 125, and 175 KTM cylinder on Sachs 5a. Assuming done in Penton machine shop by Ted Penton, and possibly Dane. Believe these may once have been in Ron C's, or Bob Andersohn's possession. Rod G. would probably know. Seem more important to me than just sitting in a warehouse.

I did own the cylinder that actually came off of one of Leroy Winters Steel Tanker bikes. I then  sold or traded it to Bob Andershon some years back.

Wow!  What workmanship....  Very cool indeed...
Would that 175 top end be the same set up that is on the blue tank bike in Dave's museum in St. Louis?

Well it's not like there's a Penton Motorcycle museum, or anything. So I guess they're just as good there, as anywhere. At least if someone desires to own them, we know where they are.

Came from Bob Andersohn's collection when Tom bought all of his stuff.  The 5a Sachs/175 experimental engine was given to me by Dane as he dug it from a dumpster when Penton Imports closed.  I in turn gave it to Bob as a gift when he purchased the original Blue tank 1970 Penton Jackpiner I found at Mid Ohio.  A lot of neat history!
