Title: Another first for KTM
Post by: rob w on September 24, 2018, 10:48:17 AM
This has not gotten any publicity that I've seen, and it happened several weeks ago.
23 year old Dan Bromley, from Warrington, PA. captured the (AFT) American Flat Track Singles Championship on his KTM backed 450.
AFT has shown a big increase in popularity in the past few years, and the Singles class is made up of production based 450cc motocross bikes. Though a lot can be said of the rider, much of the claim, especially on Mile tracks, is also proof in the strength of the machine.
Just thought I throw this out there.

Interestingly - Bromley's team was not KTM's official entry into AFT. That will start next year with what I presume is a factory team and will - again - be focused on the Singles class.

Late in the season they are supposed to debut their 790 twins racer as a prequel to a 2020 factory team in Twins racing.

(Hi Rob!  I'm Holiday Inn Express smart having just read a Michael Lock interview in the latest Cycle News).

Nonetheless, Bromley's championship win is HUGE.

Went to the Williamsgrove PA half-mile where Bromley clinched. Must add that the current fan favorite is tiny Shana Texter on a factory Husqvarna. She is wicked fast!. Now if she could just take lessons from Ryan Sypes on riding TT's (her weak spot...) she would challenge for the 450 #1 plate.
