Title: POG display at the York PA Swap Meet
Post by: Paul Danik on January 04, 2019, 11:22:14 AM
Greetings,

As the new Home Page photo suggests, the Penton Owners Group will be loading up and heading to York, PA for the Potomac Vintage Riders Swap  Meet and Show taking place on January 27th.

The Penton Owners Group will have a display / booth area again this year at the event with POG member Lee Buffenmyer heading up the POG efforts. I am sure that Lee will be chiming in with his thoughts and plans and we sure do appreciate all of his efforts.

If you have never been to this event you can not even envision what you are missing. If you are looking to buy, looking to sell, or just wanting to look, plan on attending this event. The link below will take you to a page with all of the important details of the event.

Please feel free to make the Penton Owners Group display area and booth your home away from home while at the event. There will surely be some Pentons in the POG booth area, and most assuredly there will be a line of folks wanting to get their autographs...:)

Thanks again Lee for heading up the POG efforts at York.

Greetings,

Word has it that the Potomac Vintage Riders are less than 20 booths away from being totally sold out at the York Swap meet. Keep in mind that vendors have first right to their booth space for the following year and many, many vendors have been there for decades. So if you are thinking you might check it out this year and get a spot next year if you like it, well, good luck.

It is also interesting to note that Barry Higgins will be at the event as a vendor, and without a doubt many folks will be taking this opportunity to meet one of the true icons of the two wheel sport. Barry's Hall of Fame bio link is below. One of the nicest guys you could have ever have wanted to meet was Harry Higgins, Barry's dad. You can rest assured that Barry is a chip off the old block so don't let his well earned fame keep you from stopping by his booth and saying hi.

Back in the early 90's when Bob Augustine and I were riding some of the National AHRMA MX events Harry Higgins and his BSA were always a welcome sight when we pulled in, along with Smiling Jim Cameron...sure do miss those guys. Back when Dick Mann and a bunch of west coast riders would ride the Ohio Valley BSA Club's AHRMA National Trials Jim Cameron would pull one heck of a long trailer full of their machines to the event. Those boys could ride BSA, Triumph and Royal Enfield based trials machines like you wouldn't believe.

On the home page you see the Penton Cycliner being loaded up to head out to a big race.  You can meet some of the Penton riders and personalities that traveled around the country in that big green and white bus at the Potomac Vintage Riders show and swap meet at York, Pa. Sunday Jan.27.

Things are coming together for the POG booth at the show, with a good mix of restored and ride them don't hide them bikes.

See you at the show, Lee Buffenmyer
