Title: Metal gas cans
Post by: wildman on January 23, 2019, 06:43:25 PM
Looking at the cycleliner photo, notice all the Jerry cans and metal gas cans.I ride the MIchigan CCC trailer tours and have noticed for some years now, that I have the only metal can on the gas truck.I think gas keeps better even though I only save it a few weeks.Anyone else ?

I too only use a metal can.  Plastic cans breath and allow the octane to escape.  I use a Jerry can style, that seals very well, and I am able to keep gas for a much longer period of time.  However, in saying that, I usually only buy enough gas to last two weeks.  It is easy for me to buy non-ethanol gas where I am, so, I don't need to store much at home.

I have read the same things about plastic cans, but have used them forever, stored gas for way too long, but no issues ever...
