Can anyone please tell me if a front wheel with backing plate from a1980 KTM 250 will fit and function on a 77 250 gs?
Only have photos from seller?

I have seen bikes with the conical hub installed on the earlier bikes. I believe the later axle can be used and the brake brace rod. Mike

I have a 79 wheel set up on my 76 175XC and a spacer is needed on the non-brake side.  The conical hub is not as wide as the full width hubs found on the original 76's.  I am using this set-up because the brakes work better than(2)stock hubs that I have.  Not sure why, but it does, and I will leave it at that....

James, I like the full-width hub on my '76 MC5....I don't go fast enough to need the better braking of the conical hub, LOL!

Fast?  Who said anything about fast?  I need it to miss the trees when the cruise control doesn't work properly.....

James, are you using the later conical hub version axle, or the 76 full width hub axle? A conical hub axle has a longer large section, which I believe when properly inserted into the forks provide the proper spacing without the use of a spacer. Mike

Mike, I am using the original full hub axle. Yes, you are correct, the 79 axle does have the longer section to eliminate the spacer.
