Title: Kick start lever question

On the kickstarter lever that folds in the middle, is it suppose to have just a detent ball and spring, a ball on top and bottom of spring, or is there some other sort of detent that I am missing. All that is in the one that I have is a short spring. Thanks, D

A spring and detent, a ball won't work.
