Title: Motoplat question
Post by: Carl Hill on October 14, 2019, 06:40:26 AM
I have several Motoplat ignitions that do not fit Penton/KTM. They have numbers stamped in them but when I looked them up in my Hi Point catalogs those numbers do do not appear. Anyone know how to identify them? One appears to be new and spins counter clockwise. Any help is appreciated

Carl,

You may want to reach out to Vance Smith, he services motoplats for all brands and purchased Penton Imports inventory when they closed down a few years back.  I am guessing he will probably have listing of motoplat models by application.

Thanks,

Kevin

The unit that spins counter clockwise may be for a Spanish bike like Bultaco or Montesa. I had an odd ball 'Plat once and that is what I was told at the time. The stator may be able to work with any flywheel, but like has been mentioned, Vance Smith is the go to guy here. This time of year I think he is in transition from living in Michigan to living in Florida for the winter. Smart man!
