Happy Easter all. Hope everybody is well. I am rebuilding a 1977 175 motor with the shorter barrel and piston. My question concerns the exhaust manifold. My manifold has the aluminium outer manifold and a loose steel inner tube that locates the exhaust pipe. Where the steel tube locates sit up to the manifold I now have a lip of aluminium that is of smaller diameter that the steel tube which I think is the correct diameter for the opening of the manifold. Am I correct in assuming I need to file the manifold to match the steel tube. I guess this is the result of a loose exhaust pipe working hard on the manifold. I am better with diagrams than words. Hope somebody can help.
Cheers Bill
Well you sure dont want the manifold smaller than the inside of the pipe that slides in there.
