I am looking for pictures of Moisseev's 1977 KTM 250 championship bike. If anyone has some or can send me a link I would appreciate it.
Thanks Rick
I have one he signed. Will try to dig it out. It looked pretty much like an MC5 other than a hand built pipe with a longer stinger. He told me in a letter that the cylinder was only case matched and polished with the intake roughed up but had blunt transfers like the 78 cylinders. Big difference is he did not like the leading axle forks and ran the straight leg ribbed Ceriani forks. He was a very friendly guy may he RIP he left us too soon.

I would love to see it. Can you post it ?
I do not know an easy way to post pics here. Wish it was as easy as Facebook and eBay.

Never understood not using the longer offset forks.....

He thought the leading axle forks steered too slow.

He was the world Champ & our poster boy! I wish I could have met him I liked his style![8D]
So he gave up more travel for faster steering? Wow!

You dont need more travel if your front wheel is 6 in. off the dirt! I had a buddy who rode like that . They didnt call him (cheap thrills) for no reason. R. I. P. Henry Lesley.
Pat, Henry Leslie from Modesto ?
Rob yes Henry & I were riding buddies . He taught a lot![:p]
Pat, Wow it's a small world. I got to know Henry pretty well, and saw him a lot in '78. I think at the time he had a SR500. He was a crazy fun guy, sad that he passed away.
Rob; Henry & I rode to Canada About 1980 or so. Him on the SR 500 on the back wheel 1\2 the time. I was grinning just watching him. What a fun guy to ride with. [:p]
I have this photo that I took at Unadilla at the 250 GP but not sure of the year?? This is a 35mm slide (film) that I just converted to digital. I have one or two more but one is from the front straight on at the bottom of screw-U and one straight from the back at the top. Hope this is one photo that you are looking for?
(Edit: Thanks Larry for clarifying the year and event: )

Thanks! Yeah those were the days, I still (pun?) have it a Canon FT SLR since the very early '70's. Got pretty good at being in places that I shouldn't be but had too with short 35mm and 50mm lens. Like this photo of Roger, hmmmmm I seem to be on the wrong side of the snow fence ;)

Thanks for the pictures Mike. I'm guessing the third picture is probably not him as he is wearing #1 in the other 2 pictures.
I am not sure but some of the pictures that I believe to be from 1977 shows him on a red tank bike and green number plates. The red tank even looks to be a darker red, not sure if it's the pictures or if was a darker red because of the Russian team. The reason I am looking for these pictures as I am wanting to build a Moisseev replica, so I am looking for some close ups for the details. By the way those are some great photos.
Thanks Rick
Great pictures Mike ! Thank You! I wish I took more pictures back then.:(
Those pics are from 78 season

There is a pic card for sale on eBay of what looks to be a similar team bike listed as 1977 KTM 250. I know factory riders bikes looked to be a year ahead of production bikes. It is a good left side view. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-KTM-250-MC-Austria-Motorcycle-PICTURE-1978-CARD/302681778061?hash=item46793d678d:g:sPsAAOxy4fVTBlMv

This is his 78 bike for sure. First off the pics are from US GRAN PRIX at Unadilla. There was Gran Prix there in 78 but not 77. If you look at the pic where you can see the tank it is not legible but you can see the two white areas that come into the stripe that say World Champion. Plus he is carrying the #1 plate which was not till 78. The pic of the #6 rider is team mate. Note different color face mask. The KTM bikes did not carry next years colors.

I posted a pic of the 6
77 bike on the Penton Motorcycles Facebook page.

Hi Mike and Larry,
I think that the number 6 was Vladimir Kavinov. If not, it was Valery Korneev. Great pictures Mike. Keep posting more if you have more.

Thanks Mike for your info. I can post more but don't think the Wanted/For Sale forum is the right place. Maybe the racing or general forums with a thread subject of Photos or Photos with Subject Discussion.........or ??? but not here. Some photos I and members have that are fun or interesting to post and talk about are not always Penton specific but back in the day, old school and roundabout related to Penton history. It may also generate some extra activity but if the moderators or members don't think it's working or it gets out of the boundaries of this site then they can.....well CAN it :D
Rick I found this link, don't know if this is of any help? Just posting it, in case?

Mr. Rick Penno,
Can you keep a secret my friend....my Grandparents on my Dad's side immigrated from Russia, with them came the secret that all Russians know for going really, really fast.... Just between you and me, it is the Borscht ! Moiseev surely had a bowl or two before his big races :)
Folks used to ask me what I had in my thermos, it wasn't coffee!
Next time before you jump in that boat of yours have a bowl and see how fast you go .... :)

That pic is the 77 bike. Note the straight leg Cerianis.
Larry P
Also note the front wheel is off the dirt! The only time I ever did what he is doing in that picture was on my 1974 250 Penton! The bike was that perfect! I still remember it! It was the bike not me![:p]
Mike, those are some really good pictures, thank you.
Paul I checked the link out and also did some of my own research. It appears from some of the ingrediants that they used what ever was around and that was pretty common WAY back in the day. Do you think that had anything to do with G Moissev standing up most of the time when he raced?
I may test that on the land before I go out on the water, happy trails, Rick.
PS stay safe, I think and hope we are getting close to an end of this virus.
