Does anyone have the testing resistance procedure to tell if coil is ok?
Also, there is a red coil on ebay from a 125 and has a red spark lead v. my black lead, are they functionally the same - if mine tests as no good? The 125 zinc mount plate is stamped "29" and mine is "HN"?

Try searching that out on the forum here. I believe Vance Smith, who is brilliant at rebuilding the stator coils on these, had posted specs for determining that. I think he has also said that the later model red wire coil will work with the earlier stators but the earlier black wire coil will not work with the later units.
type at you later,

I'll leave this link up for a bit on a 1974 Cycle New article ask E.C. on the secrets of the Motoplat.

That Cycle News clip is a real hoot! The ad for the Mikuni conversion hits home, 28 on mine when I bought the bike (in several uHaul cartons), ran pretty solid until latest teardown/restoration.
