Title: pre 72 Penton
Post by: Mutt on May 13, 2020, 09:54:11 AM
New to the group. I have a friend that has a NOS Penton, never had gas in the tank. Think it's a 77 model. British Racing green is what color it appears to be. Anyway. I am needing info on pre 72 Penton motor with aluminum cases and 6 speed transmission. Is there such a thing?

Hey Mutt - welcome to the group! To answer your question, click on the home button at the top of the page below the Penton Owners Group line. Once the Home page opens up, click on the Production Year Guide.
You can read about the different Penton models and their features to see which Penton your friend has. Green tanks were generally on 125 cc "six day" bikes from 1968 through 1975, but in 1977, I think all Pentons had orange tanks - 125 cc through 400 cc. Yes, a lot of Pentons had aluminum cases with 6 speed transmissions. Good luck with your search and let us know which one he has.

The aluminum case thing is not going to help you ID the year. Basically all Sachs motored Pentons from late 69-75. The KTM motored ones began in 72 and were magnesium.  The frame number will ID the year if that is what you are looking for.  The pre 72 green ones were steel tanks.  If it was fiberglass it was 72-75.
