What year and model bikes did the Lectron carbs come on?

I began to see them in 76 but by 77 they were the hot ticket on Pentons as an option.  I do not remember any coming stock with them.  That is a long time ago though.

That was my thought too Larry. I don't think a US based company would ship the carbs to the factory only to have the bike returned to the States.

Right - they were a High Point accessory item. Not OEM equipment.

We put them on just about anything that had a tuning problem!

Orderd one to be put on my 1976 jackpiner . So I think the dealer just keept my Bing . Ran great . One day I was riding across a gravel pit the bike just quit . Got off to see why - the Lectron was just hanging by the throttle cable . The intake was just a piece of radiator hose . Sliped it back on , tightened the hose clamps - and I was off !

Carl,
How old is it?  Does it have the power jet? If Gary doesn't take it, let me know.

It's pretty old. I'll have to check and see if it is power jet. I know the plastic float bowl is cracked. Would trade for a nice Bing for 71 steel tanker

The one I have for 175 does not have a power jet. I have one for 250 that does. $100 each or trade

Does anyone know if when Hi-Point offered Lectron's if they also offered a special intake?  I ask because I am not all that familiar with Lectrons and I just finished putting one on a 74 250.  It's a new carb and it came with heavy duty rubber connector to connect the spigot to spigot.  But there is no way it would fit using a straight intake.  I ended up using an angled intake, but I needed to shorten it by a ΒΌ" so the top of the carb would clear the pipe.  Even doing that it is a close fit.

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm cleaning up a Lectron that I took off a 76 Husky 360 that's being parted out. A silly question...how can I tell if it has a power jet???

Richard, on the intake side of the carb there would be a needle that sticks down into the airflow of the carb.  If it is a modern carb, it will have an adjusting screw on top of the needle.  The older ones do not have the screw adjuster.
